Today 12.25pm the Boyne Fishermen's Rescue and Recovery Service emergency paging system was activated to the reports of a person after entering the river Boyne from the Haymarket Bridge area of the town.

We immediately dispatched our land crews and inshore rescue boat to the location of the incident.

Luckily we had a crew members in boathouse conducting scheduled maintenance on equipment.

The inshore rescue boat was launched and on scene within 3 minutes of the pagers been activated.

As the inshore rescue boat arrived on scene the casualty was almost fully submerged in the water, thanks to Drogheda Gardai on scene rapidly and for quickly pointing out to our crew who extracted the casualty and immediately commenced CPR while on route to the boathouse.

On arrival to the Boathouse the casualty re gained conscious and was transferred to our medical room fo further treatment and handed over to Drogheda Ambulance Service.

Many thanks also to Drogheda Gardai and Drogheda Ambulance Service for their assistance.

Crews returned back to base where they washed, refueled and restaged the equipment awaiting another call.

With the fast thinking and fast response from all agencies involved a life was saved.
