Yesterday evening at 18.00hrs the Boyne Fishermen's Rescue and Recovery Service where tasked to assist with a incident which occurred on the river Boyne.
The incident was the pollution of the river Boyne with a substance that was floating on top of the water ,such as diseal ,oil / brake fluid residue.
We dispatched our Mobile 1 unit while our inshore rescue boat was also launched as the source of the pollution could not be determined via land.
Following multiple calls and reports about this incident a multiple agency tasking was involved.
A short time later following discussions and reporting to inland fisheries,Louth County Council and Louth Fire and Rescue Service.
Crew stood down returning to base to wash and restage equipment in the event of another tasking.
