Call-out 01/06/2021 16/21 * Animal Rescue *
Boyne Fishermen's Rescue emergency paging system activated at 20.21pm.
Call recieved reporting dog in the water at upper mell slipway which had gotten tangled in moorings and unfortunately was struggling to stay afloat.
A further update was recieved that there was a strong Possiblity that members of the public / the owner of the dog may have tried to enter the water to conduct the rescue.
We immediately dispatched our inshore rescue boat which proceeded to the scene swiftly.
On arrival crew located the dog which unfortunately barely afloat ,in a distressed state and tangled in the rope moorings.
Crews fast thinking manged to successfully work free and untangle the dog while keeping him afloat.
Following that we managed to secure the dog while taking him ashore to the care of his owner.
Crew stood down returning to base to wash restage and await the next call out.
