Incident 6/06/15 – Person Attempting To Enter The Water 013/15
The Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Services, emergency pagers where activated this morning Saturday (6 June) at 03.54 hrs.
The call had reported that a person was attempting to enter the River Boyne at Scotch Hall Shopping center in Drogheda.
Our inshore Rescue Boat and crew were immediately launched from our Boathouse on the Marsh RD, while our mobile units and crews where dispatched directly to the scene.
On arrival our scene crew observed that 1 member of DRR land crew was already on scene and that a male had made his way down the wall via the emergency ladder and was at the rivers edge.
Immediately members trained in Swift Water Rescue climbed down the ladder to take control of the casualty and organise the safe extraction and transfer to our Rescue boat.
The casualty was transferred by boat to our Boathouse on the Marsh Rd and handed over to the waiting crews from Drogheda Ambulance Service and Drogheda Gardai.
The casualty was stabilised by the Ambulance service before being transferred to the Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
All units were stood down at 4:45 hrs, after cleaning and re-staging the equipment to have it ready for the next callout.
