Incident 28/02/17 – Person attempting to enter the water - 02/17
At 02.48 hrs this morning (Tuesday 28th Feb) The Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service emergency pagers were activated reporting a male attempting to enter the river Boyne at the bridge of Peace in Drogheda.
Our team quickly assembled at the boathouse on the Marsh Road and within minutes an inshore rescue boat was launched and arrived on scene.
On arrival of the boat crew they were joined by multiple land units who observed a male on the water side of the railings.
Members trained in Swift-water rescue set up a rescue swimmer to enter the water from the river bank as a precaution.
After a short period of time members of the Gardai, National Ambulance Service assisted by members of the B.F.R.R.S managed to safely remove the male from the water side of the railings.
All units were stood down and returned to their Marsh Road Base where they Cleaned and restaged their equipment to have it ready for the next call out.
