Incident 27/11/15 – Person Attempting To Enter The Water 023/15
The Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service received a call out at 00:40hrs this morning (Friday 27 November).
The call had reported that a person was seen on the river side of the railings and maybe attempting to enter the water at the Obelisk Bridge just outside of Drogheda.
Our inshore Rescue Boat and crew were immediately launched from our Boathouse on the Marsh RD, while multiple mobile units and crews were dispatched directly to the scene.
On arrival of our crews a significant search of the area was undertaken. After a period of time the crews were stood down and nothing to report as it was confirmed the caller’s storyline was inadequate and deemed a hoax.
All units were stood down at 02:15 hrs, after cleaning and re-staging the equipment to have it ready for the next callout.
On scene at today’s incident along with the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service were The Drogheda Coast Guard, Laytown Gardai and DRR.
