Incident 27/03/17 - Missing Persons – 04/17
At 20.29hrs Thursday evening (Thursday 23rd March) The emergency paging system for the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service was activated.
The emergency pager team assembled at our boathouse on the Marsh Rd where a brief was given. We had received a call to reports of a missing person from the Drogheda area and the last known location / area of interest was the ramparts area of Drogheda.
An inshore rescue boat and land team where dispatched from our boathouse and commenced search operations at the location. After a period of time searching search operations had been suspended due to low visibility.
On Friday morning, a team at first light undertook a search of the river bank and on low tide a inshore rescue boat was used for a surface search.
On Saturday morning search teams continued with multiple land and boat crews undertaking various search methods in various locations on the river Boyne.
The search teams where stood down shortly after 17.00hrs on Saturday when the missing persons had been located.
Our team returned to the Marsh Road Base. Cleaned, and restaged their equipment to have it ready for the next call out
