Incident 23/12/15 – Person Attempting To Enter The Water 024/15
The Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service received a call out at 23:47 hrs last night (Wednesday 23rd December).
A call came in reporting a male in a distressed state may be attempting to enter the river Boyne from the Viaduct Bridge in Drogheda.
The Emergency paging system was activated and our team quickly assembled at the Marsh Road Base.
Our inshore Rescue Boat was launched from our Boathouse on the Marsh RD, while our mobile units and crews were dispatched directly to the scene.
On arrival of the boat crew they observed a male on the viaduct bridge who proceeded to cross the railing and enter the water.
Immediately the casualty was taken from the water and brought to the B.F. R. R.S boathouse, where members administrated first aid and kept the casualty stable until a front line ambulance arrived.
Crew then handed over to the National Ambulance Service, where the casualty was then transported to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
On scene at last night’s incident along with the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service where The Drogheda Gardai and the NAS.
The Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service units returned to their Marsh Road Base ,Cleaned and re-staged their equipment to have it ready for the next call out.
