Incident 19/08/18 Persons Reported in the Water 14/18
For the 2nd time within 12 hours,At 20.41pm ( Sunday 19th August ) the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service emergency paging system was activated to the reports of a person after entering the river Boyne from the Bru area.
Immediately we had dispatched various crews including our inshore rescue boat crew ,Mobile units and Scene crews to the location of the incident.
Luckily we had 2 inshore rescue boat and crew on the river Boyne due to the Fleadh Cheoil ,And quickly diverted to the location.
On arrival of the boat crew a male was observed exiting the river Boyne from the steps at apache pizza and leaving the scene.
On scene crew began talking to the male ,where it was discovered he had been with friends drinking and entered the water for the "fun of it".
Crews high lighted the dangers /factors of entering the river Boyne and handed over to Drogheda Gardai.
Also on scene Drogheda Gardai.
All units were stood down and returned to maintaining safety cover for the upcoming fireworks display at Scotch Hall.
