Incident 19/08/18 Persons Attempting to Enter the Water 13/18

At 11.11am ( Sunday 19th August ) the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service emergency paging system was activated to the reports of a possible person attempting to enter the river Boyne from the old slipway at the mell area of Drogheda.

Immediately we had dispatched various crews including our inshore rescue boat crew ,Mobile units and Scene crews to the location of the incident.

Within 3 minutes of the pager been activated our scene crew arrived followed swiftly by our inshore rescue boat and crew.

On arrival scene crew observed a female attempting to enter the water.

A member of the on scene crew approached and began negotiations with the female,while we had rescue swimmers at the ready in the event of an entry occurring.

After a period of time scene crew successfully prevented her from entering the water and handed over to Drogheda Gardai.

All units were stood down and returned to their Marsh Road Base where they Cleaned and restaged their equipment to have it ready for the next call out
