Incident 19/08/16 - Person reported in the water - 020/16
At 21.21 hrs last Friday (19th August) the emergency paging system for the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service was activated reporting a person had entered the river Boyne at the D Hotel Drogheda.
Our team quickly assembled at the boathouse on the Marsh Road, while our mobile units and an inshore rescue boat was dispatched to the scene.
On arrival of the land crew they observed that a member of Scotch Hall Security had entered the water with a life ring to secure the casualty.
Immediately a rescue swimmer entered the water to assist with the securing of the casualty and with the combined effort they brought the casualty to the river’s edge and administrated first aid while waiting for the arrival of the boat crew.
On arrival to the boyne rescue slipway B.F.R.R.S members handed the casualty over to the awaiting NAS ambulance where the casualty was taken to our lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda for further medical treatment.
On scene at today’s incident along with the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service were The National Ambulance Service,Drogheda Gardai and Drogheda Coast Guard Unit.
