Incident 18/03/15 -Person in Distress - 008/15

The Boyne Fishermen's Rescue and Recovery Service provided a mobile unit  for St Patrick’s Day night (17 March) to monitor and observe crowd levels and to assist with any incidents that may arise during the night along the river Boyne in Drogheda.


At 00.10 am hrs while a mobile unit from the Boyne Fishermen's Rescue and Recovery Service was undertaking a routine check they discovered a male in a distressed state on Wellington key.


Crew members observed the male for a short period of time during this time the male made his way onto Dominic’s street Bridge.


Immediately crew members decided to approach and a member trained in Safe talk suicide prevention approached the male on the bridge.


After a short talk with the male, he safely made his way from the bridge and left the area.


Crews continued then to monitor and observe local areas known along the river Boyne throughout the night and lucky there was no further incidents throughout the night.
