Incident 16/11/15 -Person Reported in the water - 022/15
At 10:02 hrs yesterday morning (Monday 16 November) The Boyne Fishermen's Rescue & Recovery Service emergency paging system was activated reporting a male seen in the water at the Haymarket Bridge in Drogheda.
Our team quickly assembled at the boathouse on the Marsh Road, while our mobile units and multiple inshore rescue boats were dispatched to the scene.
On arrival of the boat crews and land crews Drogheda Coast Guard unit where also in attendance and a Significant search of the area was undertaken.
While boat crews where carrying out search operations throughout the day on the river Boyne in various locations, Coastguard Helicopter Rescue 116 joined the search and after a short period of time directed the Drogheda Coast Guard Boat to an object on the river’s edge near the viaduct.
On arrival a male was taken from the water by the Drogheda Coast Guard boat and taken back to The Drogheda Coast Guard Boathouse where First aid was administered and a handover was done with the National Ambulance Service.In a sad outcome the male later passed away.
