At 12.56 hrs today ( Monday 16th April ) the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service emergency paging system was activated requesting assistance at the oblisk bridge just outside of Drogheda.
The incident reported was a number of Cows in difficulty in the centre of the river, with a high tide and strong currents which the area is known for it was feared the animals wouldn't make it back to land safely.
We dispatched a mobile unit and crew to the scene to observe ,assist and plan the safe extraction of the cows to the nearby river bank while we had an inshore rescue boat launched and on route to provide further assistance.
Luckily as the mobile crew arrived on scene they observed the cows had luckily managed to exit the water to a nearby bank.
All units were stood down and returned to their Marsh Road Base where they Cleaned and restaged their equipment to have it ready for the next call out
