Incident 11/07/17 Persons Reported in the water 08/17

At 01:01 am this morning (Tuesday 11th July) The Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service emergency pagers were activated reporting a male had entered the river Boyne at the D Hotel in Drogheda.

Our team quickly assembled and within minutes a members of the on scene crew trained in Swift Water Rescue had arrived and observed a male in the water who was been secured by a life ring to keep him afloat which had been thrown in by Gardai on scene.

Two members of the on scene crew quickly suited up and entered the water to secure the casualty as it was feared the male might let go of the life ring due to the on scene conditions.

On arrival of the inshore rescue boat the casualty and crew where transferred on board and brought to the Boyne Rescue Boathouse. On arrival the casualty was taken to the medical room where he received first aid treatment and was handed over to the National Ambulance Service.

All units were stood down and returned to their Marsh Road Base where they Cleaned and restaged their equipment to have it ready for the next call out.

On scene today alongside the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service were the Drogheda Gardai,National Ambulance Service and Drogheda Coast Guard unit.
