Incident 05/03/15 - Body Recovered- 006/15
At 14.00 hrs yesterday (Thursday 5th March) the emergency paging system for the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service was activated reporting a person missing on the river Boyne.
Our team quickly assembled at our boathouse on the Marsh Road where immediately a mobile unit and boat crew responded to the scene.
Meanwhile our underwater search team had been alerted and were on route to the incident.
On arrival the boat crew and land crew undertook a signicant search of the area while the underwater search and recovery unit undertook a series of dives.
As darkness fell search operations were suspended for the night with crew to return at first light.
Search teams resumed at first light this morning and in a sad outcome the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service searching for a missing person recovered a body from the river Boyne.
The body was then taken to our boathouse on the Marsh Rd for a formal identification where it was to be taken to Navan Hospital for a post-mortem.
The Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service units returned to the boathouse on the Marsh Road. Cleaned and restaged their equipment to have it ready for the next call out.
Members of the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service wish to extend their sympathy to the family and friends.
